The Easiest Way to Burn Fat

Two words.

Eat.  Breakfast.

Seriously.  We know you know this.  And, sure.  It’s basic.

But if it were THAT basic, nearly half the population wouldn’t skip this meal.

And if you’re looking to lose fat or maintain your body weight, you can’t skip this meal any longer.

Study after study after study continue to come to the same conclusion. 

In fact one study showed those who skip breakfast are 4.5 times more likely to be obese.  Just from one simple meal!

So the question now — how soon and what should you eat?

Very simply, the sooner the better.  You’re essentially in ‘starvation’ mode since you haven’t eaten since the night before.  Now you’re asking your body to function — mentally and physically — so without fuel for your fire, you’ll struggle.

Now, what to eat.

One study published in the Journal of Nutrition showed that those who started their day with 2 eggs versus a carbohydrate rich breakfast ate 400 total calories less during the day! 

Now, if you add some fruit and/or veggies with those eggs, you’ll load up on even more vitamins and minerals to truly fuel your body.

Here’s a favorite breakfast of ours:

1 tomato (picked one off the vine this morning to make this, actually).

Cut it down the center and then cut again in the opposite direction (not cutting all the way through).

Prepare 2 sunny side up eggs

Slice 1/2 an avocado

When the eggs are done, add them to the top of the tomato and top with avocado slices.  Sprinkle with just a pinch of freshly ground black pepper and salt.

Have a side of your favorite fruit. 

Some other ideas:

  • Berry Blast Smoothie (how to make a fat burning smoothie)
  • Berries and vanilla oats — fill the bowl with different berries, top with whole oats, and pour and cover with some unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • Sprouted grain English muffin with a sunny side up egg, melted cheddar cheese and sliced tomato

    Dr Mohrs,
    For the past ten years I was heavily involved with youth soccer at high level working with male and female soccer players ages 8-18. This was an issue with some of the teenage girls that were on the “heavier” side. It also was noticeable in their fitness levels. Once we were able to help with changes both appearance and fitness levels improved.

    I believe this message needs to be sent to both male and female adolescents and it is crucial to do so during puberty.
    Just my thoughts…

    I like to stay with oatmeal or buckwheat with ground flax seed and some fruit. Right now it’s pineapple
