Jumpstart Your Fat Loss

Have you ever hit a fat loss plateau?

You’re plugging along, workouts are great, sticking to eating clean on a daily basis…

…and then something derails you.

Maybe it’s a life event.  A holiday.  Vacation.  Whatever it may be, there’s going to be a time that your weight and body fat plateau.

This can be a major fat loss disappointment.  And it is sometimes the difference between those who are successful with reaching their goals and those who will struggle.

Weight goes down.  Weight goes up.  Down.  Up.  And the cycle is repeated over and over again.

The most important piece of the fat loss puzzle to remember is that a plateau doesn’t mean success is over.  It simply means pull back those reigns, get right back on track, and continue to plug away.

Breaking THROUGH a fat loss plateau will give you the motivation to continue on until you reach your ultimate goal.

Here are 5 simple ways to jumpstart your fat loss:

  1. Write down what you eat and drink.  Everything.  Tedious?  No doubt.  Effective?  ABSOLUTELY.  This simple fat loss strategy alone can immediately get you right back on track.  The goal is simply to increase awareness — and increasing awareness decreases the amount you’ll eat.  Do it for 1 week straight and you’ll be amazed at how effective it truly is.
  2. Increase the intensity of your workouts.  I was at the gym yesterday and as I walked in, past the cardio equipment, I noticed a woman talking on her cell phone barely going through the motions on the equipment.  This won’t get your results.  Add intervals — go harder, for shorter periods of time (example — 20 seconds HARD work, 60+ seconds rest).  Hard work can be hill sprints, sprints on the ground, mountain climbers, on a bike, etc.  Just, whatever you do, hang up your phone when working out.
  3. Weigh in.  Yes, I said it — use a scale.  Are they the best tool in the world?  Nope.  Are they effective in terms of at least keeping things headed in the right direction?  Sure are.  Step on there once per week to keep reaching for your goals.
  4. Sleep more.  Who wouldn’t want THIS?  When you sleep more, you weigh less.  Rather than sitting on the couch at night staying up for the various late night TV shows, head to bed.  Getting 8 hours each night can be just what the Dr ordered to break through the fat loss plateau.
  5. Get a friend to join you.  Having the right support system will make or break success.  Having a "team" to pull you up when you are down or to make sure you’re continue to stay on track is an easy solution.  And you both benefit! 

There you have it — 5 simple strategies to jumpstart your fat loss and break through any fat loss plateau.  Always remember that what may seem like a "setback" is merely a little bump in the road.  Get to the other side and continue on your fat loss journey!
