A Spice that Burns Fat?

Sound too good to be true?

An ingredient that magically melts fat off your body?

Well, maybe it’s not quite THAT easy … but this particular spice shows a lot of promise.

And it’s not some strange spice that you’ll never use or find anywhere.

It’s…cinnamon.

Here’s the deal.

After you eat, your blood glucose (blood sugar) increases.  The amount of increase depends on what you eat too.  For example, drink a soda and you get a big response; on the flipside, eat an apple and there’s less of an increase.

Your pancreas then secrets insulin in response to blood glucose.  It lowers your glucose.

Insulin is a really powerful hormone — it’s a storage hormone — so too much and you’re setting yourself up to gain belly fat (along with diabetes, among others).  Insulin basically tells your body to store fat vs. burn it.  BUT, when controlled, it can certainly be used to your advantage.

So the question is … how can you control the fat storage hormone insulin?

Well, first and foremost, lay off the fiber free, junk carbs — like sweets, candy, cookies, pastries, etc.

Second, exercise.  Like insulin, exercise lowers blood glucose levels — which is why exercise is so effective for those with diabetes.

Third, consider the fat burning spice I talked about earlier — cinnamon.

Research shows that cinnamon may decrease the post meal insulin spike.  And the more controlled the spike, the less likely we are to store body fat.

Eating cinnamon may mean less belly fat and a smaller waistline.

Mohr Results Bottom Line: Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon on your favorite foods daily — yogurt, oats, cottage cheese, or in a smoothie–it not only tastes great, but may help slim your waistline–and it’s a powerful antioxidant to boot.

    This is pretty sensationalistic.
“Less likely to store fat” is a long way from “burns fat.”
