Are Weight Loss Drugs the Answer?

A new report out of Europe suggests weight loss supplements don’t work.

But that doesn’t stop people from using them … the weight loss industry is a multi billion dollar industry.

By the way, that multi billion dollar figure doesn’t include the prescription drugs that are available too.

And now 3 more weight loss drugs are on the horizon — hoping to be added to the mix of available  products to help people shed pounds.  Are these what’s needed, though?

Qnexa is the latest drug its parent company is hoping to get approved for use.  In the past, though, there have been many issues with diet drugs — from being linked to cardiac issues to increased rates of suicide in those who take certain ones.

Weight loss drugs really have a spotty past.  But many of the weight loss doctors suggest they’ll give an extra fat loss "boost" to those who use them.  The downside — people who use them have to stay on them for life, or risk gaining that additional weight loss (and more) right back.

We’re always weary of prescriptions for weight loss.  With their spotty history, modest (if any) added benefit, to their potentially dangerous side effects, is it REALLY worth the risk?

Unfortunately many are continually looking for the magic bullet for weight loss.  But it is not and never will be found in any pill, potion, lotion, or whatever else is available.

Here’s the "Magic Fat Loss Formula"

Ready?

  • Start each meal with a veggie or fruit
  • Replace all liquid calories with water
  • Eat breakfast daily
  • Include a lean protein with each meal
  • Enjoy healthy fats throughout the day
  • Move more and ramp up the exercise intensity
  • Sleep a minimum of 7 hours/day, ideally 8+

Skip the weight loss drugs.  Leave the overhyped fat loss supplements on the shelf.  And run away from anything promising 6 pack in a second abs.

When you’re ready to commit, weight loss will happen.  But you have to commit and be responsible for your decisions.

Great Post!! I know of people that use these “miracle pills” and they just don’t understand how harmful they can be, or they want to lose weight so badly that they don’t care about the side effects. In fact a lady that used to do my Mom’s hair died suddenly and they found out she was using somekind of weight loss pill. Her Husband didn’t even know she was using them. It’s really scary stuff. Thanks for getting the word out. I hope it does some good.
