3 Diet Traps While Vacationing
Vacation is often a time to "let down the diet reigns" — kick back, enjoy some R & R … eat and drink!
But interestingly, there’s nothing like vacation to kick start the "bathing suit" nutrition and training.
Here are 3 common diet traps while vacationing … and what to do about them so you don’t fall into the trap.
- Prepare some of your own meals — vacation doesn’t have to mean eating out breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you’re in a hotel, try a place that offers a little Kitchenette with a stove and refrigerator. At the very least, prepare breakfast there — fruit, yogurt, oats — the basics.
- Avoid having foods lying around the house – if they are there, you’ll eat them. Keep chips, soda, and snack foods in a cabinet, "hidden" from plain view so every time you walk into the kitchen, you don’t just pick at them. It’s the definition of mindless eating.
- Enjoy everything in moderation — yes, it’s just 1 week — but each day and night of overeating, over drinking, and over snacking … gets to be a bit much and can make you feel pretty bad.
The key is to stick as close to your "normal" routine as much as possible … get some exercise before the rest of the day starts, eat clean most of the time, and enjoy your vacation!
