    I think the trouble isn’t so much “white carbs” as white starches!

    Somehow, carbs has become synonymous with starch, which is wrong.

    Carbohydrates are either fibrous – and good for you regardless of colour – or starchy which you have to watch more closely. But even here, white isn’t always totally bad. You can indulge in a potato once in a while (just don’t fry it!) and legumes are often on the whiter side as well (beans and chick peas).

    On the whole, I stay away from starchy carbs 5 days a week. I’ll have a small serving of steel-cut oats one morning mid-week, and a larger breakfast with some homemade baked beans and a small serving of whole wheat bread (locally made from organic flour :) two-in-one) with eggs fried on my Foreman Grill with a tomato cut in half.

    Garlic is a staple in our house, we’ll have some almost every day in one dish or another. Yes, even at lunch :) too bad for the co-workers eh?
