Fat Burning BBQ Recipes!
I don’t know about you, but we use our grill almost daily in the summer.
And grilling can be a super healthy way to cook — you don’t need to add fat, like oil or butter, and some of the fat on the meats actually melts off as well.
While we love the occasional burger, it’s easy to get stuck in a "burger rut" as the only thing you turn to when grilling.
Let’s mix it up with a little fat burning flavor — try these few ideas next time you like up the barbecue.
Veggies - here are a few of our favorites.
- Slice zucchini and squash long way (about 1/2" thick), brush with a little balsamic vinaigrette or just olive oil, salt and pepper, and grill a few minutes on each side.
- Slice onions to make thick rings. Use the same "marinade" as above and grill both sides until tender.
- Asparagus — place these against the "grain" so the opposite direction of the grill rack and just rotate regularly. A little olive oil and lemon juice works wonders with these.
- Mushrooms — if you use a bigger mushroom, like portobello, simply brush the top with this mixture — olive oil, chopped garlic, pepper, and a little soy sauce. Or you can use smaller mushrooms, like white button, and skewer several of them. Brush them with the same mixture and grill
- Sweet potatoes — sounds strange, but make 1/4" each "circles"
Fish
- Wild salmon works really well on the grill — check out this video for a great combo of salmon and mixed veggies — for a dinner you can’t beat!
- Halibut, swordfish, and monkfish work well too — mercury content is a lot higher in these fish, so you have to be cautious about how often you eat these fish
Just a few unique ideas — mix it up and keep that variety going! Fish and veggies, like in the video, makes a fantastic meal!

Grilled mushrooms are the best. I grill them without anything on them, so you have a totally fat free snack.
