2010 Dietary Guidelines

"Obesity is the single greatest threat to public health in this century."

That was one conclusion that the experts advisory committee for the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans identified.

Scary.

The scientists also have scoured the latest nutrition research to put together their opinions for the soon to be released 2010 Dietary Guidelines.

The public has until July 15th to make their own suggestions …

… and we want your opinion too.

If you were on the scientific expert committee, what would YOU suggest for the 2010 Dietary Guidelines?

I think the problem today is parents that let their kids, either by not being there for them, or by setting an example for them and do it themselves is being a “couch potato”. Kids come home from school and go directly to the TV or computer. I think parents need to set a limit of time spent on the computer or watching TV or playing video games. Kids need to get outside. People need to learn to eat what is good for them. If they want to eat a fast food burger once in a while, it’s not going to hurt them. If they eat one every day, then they need to learn good nutrition. Parents can get out there with their kids and play with them, go for a jog, play tennis or something, anything, just move. The government needs to stay out of our personal business, it’s none of their business what we eat, what time we go to bed, or what groceries we buy.

Change the USDA Food Pyramid! The USDA recommends Eating 6-11 servings of carbohydrates a day and this causes the pancreas to produce high volumes of insulin which leads the body into storing fat, causing obesity and type 2 diabeties. Both are at epidemic levels.
