We are of course focused on improving your health, wellness, and physique--but one area that a lot don't focus on is their minds. Of course that's part of overall wellness and a favorite quote is listed on our "Mohr
Results Approved" page, where we list a number of books, covering a variety of topics, that are fantastic reads.
“The only thing worse than not reading a book in the last
ninety days is not reading a book in the last ninety days and thinking
it doesn’t matter.”
-Jim Rohn
Our goal here is to read one book each week--whether it's about
nutrition, exercise, weight loss, business, or often a mindless
novel. You'll never get dumber by reading--that's for sure. And
this book is so good it had to get a special callout for our newsletter
list. It's by Michael Pollan, who has written many books--most
notably, An Omnivores Dilemma (below). His latest book just came
out this month (we recommend both):

The books are perfect for their very simple, yet effective messaging. There are so many fads and so much misinformation available, it's nice to get back to simple messaging about smart eating. It is amazing that at least 6 of the top ten killers in America are preventable--mainly from overeating, physical inactivity, and obesity!
Here are a few "rules" from the book that stand out:
- Escape the Western diet
- Don't eat packaged foods with lots of chemical ingredients
- Eat mostly plants
- Avoid supermarkets whenever possible (he instead suggests
farmers markets). We suggest learning how to shop
with our Grocery
Store Made Easy DVD (amazing that he left that out!)
- Don't eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn't recognize
as food
- Pay more to eat less
- Don't buy food where you buy gas
- Do all your eating at a table
- Eat slowly
- If it doesn't rot, don't eat it (that's a personal
favorite).
Take a few of these principles to heart; maybe, just maybe, it
will help you make some changes in your nutrition lifestyle.
Have
a fantastic week!

Results Team
