How to Lose Fat with Easy Strategies

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Or in English - Let the good times roll!

Today is “Fat Tuesday” – or, the day before Lent, what some consider the “last supper” or crazy bit of behavior, before Lent starts and they clean up their act.

I’ve had a lot of clients, irrespective of religion, who have used this time of year as a period of cleaning up their behaviors.  We don't call it "giving up."  Deprivation rarely works.  We like to call it spring cleaning your diet.

Clients use this time of year as a time to weed out those unnecessary permissions they've allowed themselves.  Things like:

  • An extra latte in the afternoon
  • The second helping at dinner when they know they've had plenty to eat
  • The afternoon trip to the vending machine
  • Justifying staying in bed vs. coming to boot camp in the morning
  • Following the BLT diet (bites, licks and tastes) off their children’s plates

Little things that all seem harmless.  But aren't.

The little slips do the most damage.  They all add up -- 1 bite here, 2 sips there, ultimately turns into several hundred calories in a day and pounds over time.

All too often we hear clients say, "I'm working out and watching what I eat every day and the scale won't budge."  That's because we usually only pay attention to the big infractions.  Things like skipping a week of workouts or overindulging in sweets.

We fail to notice the small infractions.

And even worse, sometimes we don't even realize we are doing them!

Here are 3 tips to make sure you stay on track.

  1. Exercise first thing in the morning (Mohr Results Boot Camp can help)!

  2. Write down what you eat to increase your awareness

  3. Be conscious of the mindless eating.
